What is iPhone (iTunes) error 1110
Error 1110 has struck many iPhone users quite recently. The issue was reported to happen when trying to upgrade a device from older versions of IOS 14 to IOS 15. Many users of iPhone 13 Pro Max, iPhone 12/ Mini, XR, XS, and other models had their device looping the Apple logo over and over again. The same problem occurred while trying to update an iPhone using iTunes as an alternative method. Users continued facing the same error with the following text: “The iPhone could not be updated. An unknown error occurred (1110). 06A1.0456”. In general, error 1110 means iPhone does not have enough memory space to install new updates. Although the logical solution could be to free up some space on a device, nobody can do it due to the Apple logo stuck on the screen. In such a case, the only solution is to reset your device from scratch – this action will be followed by deletion of all stored data and settings. The only downside of this is that no data can be extracted using traditional ways while being handcuffed by the error. It negates all the users’ attempts to boot back to the screen and make a backup of files. There has been some time since the 1110 error appeared meaning much fewer victims should encounter the issue right now. Apple has already provided a permanent fix to this issue. However, if you are still one of those few facing the error for some reason, follow this couple of steps to get over the problem.
Download Repair Tool
Sometimes resolving the errors is out of our control and possibilities. This is where third-party tools can make a great impact on aiding the users. If you are facing bugs like error 1110, but do not want to reset your device using manual steps, then Tenorshare ReiBoot would be a faster solution to use. It is a great recovery tool designed for resolving errors like that. Get to know how one can use it to address the errors by resetting a device successfully:
- Download and install ReiBoot for either Mac or Windows.
- Once done, open the app and plug your device into the computer.
- The program should recognize your device and offer a couple of options.
- Choose Standard if you simply want to update your device or Deep repair if you want to fully restore it.
- Then, download the firmware found by the app for your smartphone by clicking Download.
- Once the process is finished, click Repair now to start resolving the problems.
- Wait until the app finishes its repair and restores your device. It will take about 15 minutes to end.
Standard is meant to search for basic issues and bugs to address them without wiping out your data.
Deep repair will reset your device to factory settings and delete the entire data stored on it.
1. Force-restart your device
This might be the only solution you can actually try before restoring your device to factory settings. Although this method rarely helps and iPhone continues to show the Apple logo, you can still try to force restart your device so that it boots at the main screen.
iPhone 8 or later:
- Press and quickly release the Volume Up button.
- Press and quickly release the Volume Down button.
- Press and hold the Side button (which you use to unlock your screen) until you see the Apple logo.
iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, and iPod touch (7th generation):
- Press and hold the Side (or Top) button and the Volume Down button together at the same time.
- Likewise in the previous steps, the Apple logo should appear on the screen.
iPad models with a Home button, iPhone 6s or earlier, and iPod touch (6th generation) or earlier:
- Press and hold both the Side (or Top) button and the Home button until you see the same Apple logo as it was above.
iPad models without a Home button:
- Press and quickly release the Volume Up button.
- Press and quickly release the Volume Down button.
- Then press-hold the Power button and wait until the iPad restarts.
Basically, the pattern of restarting your device is the same only varying by a combination of buttons on different generations of IOS devices.
2. Reset your iPhone to factory settings
As mentioned, this is the only working solution to fix the 1110 error and get back to using your device as usual. Note that this procedure will erase all the contents stored on an iPhone. If you have an iCloud backup of valuable data, then there is nothing you should worry about. Simply reset your device and restore the files from iCloud. Otherwise, you will probably have to say goodbye to your data. As an alternative, you can ask for help in the nearest iPhone repair center located within your city. You will need access to iTunes (on Mac or Windows) to restore your bugged device. Follow the official steps by Apple listed below.
- If your current system is macOS Catalina or later, open Finder. If that is macOS Mojave or earlier, or you are using a PC, open iTunes.
- Then, connect your device to Mac or Windows with a USB cable.
- Follow the on-screen instructions and select your device once it becomes visible. If your computer does not recognize the connected device, follow this link to get possible solutions for it.
- Then, find the Restore iPhone… button and confirm the action.
- Your device will start the restoration. Once done, it will boot at the main screen and ask you to set up the device as new.
