What is AdvancedDisplay
AdvancedDisplay is an advertising program that targets Mac users. It operates by changing browser settings to promote intrusive banners, pop-ups, and coupons from unwanted advertising campaigns. This means clicking on them may lead to various scam pages or suspicious websites that offer to download something. This something may be fake software or updates presented to be extremely important. Apart from generating unwanted ads, AdvancedDisplay may be able to install fake search engines upon legitimate Google, Yahoo, or Bing to fabricate traffic and earn money on it. In addition, unwanted programs like adware may be able to track your browsing session – collect passwords, IP addresses, geolocations, and other types of sensitive data that cybercriminals may capitalize on. Thus, we strongly encourage you to delete this application and prevent it from displaying dubious content. Learn how to use our instructions below.
How AdvancedDisplay infected your computer
Potentially Unwanted Programs like adware usually sneak into a system without the consent of users. It often occurs when users install pirated, cracked, or simply freeware software from unofficial third-party pages. AdvancedDisplay could be included in one of those third-party installers on torrent resources. As a rule, such software is promoted in the form of additional offers that users can decide to install or not on their own. Unfortunately, many users skip the entire installation process including “Advanced”, “Custom”, or similar sections containing promotional offers. Note that such offers may be advertised as something useful, but install completely different changes from what they claimed to. Because their installation is selected by default, skipping over will lead to inadvertent installations making users confused about how they appeared on their PCs. To improve protection against such infections in the future, follow our tutorial below.
