What is Chily Ransomware
Chily is the name of a ransomware infection designed to encrypt system-stored data and extort money for its decryption. During encryption, the virus also runs visual changes to files by appending the new .[Chily@Dr.Com]
extension. To illustrate, a file originally named 1.pdf
will change to 1.pdf.[Chily@Dr.Com]
and reset its icon as well. After such changes, users will no longer be able to access their data as they used to before. Chily Ransomware also changes the desktop wallpapers and creates an HTML file (Read Me.Hta) that features decryption instructions.

All your files have been encrypted!
All your files have been encrypted due to a security problem with your PC.
If you want to restore them, write us to the e-mails: chily@tuta.io and Chily@Dr.Com and chily65@proton.me
(for the fastest possible response, write to all 3 mails at once!)
Write this ID at the beginning of your message:

You have to pay for decryption in Bitcoins. The price depends on how fast you write to us. After payment we will send you the tool that will decrypt all your files.
Free decryption as guarantee
Before paying you can send us up to 3 files for free decryption. The total size of files must be less than 5Mb (non archived), and files should not contain valuable information. (databases, backups, large excel sheets, etc.)
How to obtain Bitcoins
The easiest way to buy bitcoins is LocalBitcoins site. You have to register, click 'Buy bitcoins', and select the seller by payment method and price.

Attention!
Do not rename encrypted files.
Do not try to decrypt your data using third party software, it may cause permanent data loss.
Decryption of your files with the help of third parties may cause increased price (they add their fee to our) or you can become a victim of a scam.
It is said victims have to contact developers via one of the given e-mail addresses (chily@tuta.io, chily@dr.com, or chily65@proton.me) and copy-paste their generated ID while writing the message. For a faster response, cybercriminals also recommend contacting all the given emails at once. After this, extortionists will announce the price for decryption (in Bitcoin cryptocurrency), which, as they say, depends on how fast victims establish communication with them. Once the demanded ransom is paid, cybercriminals promise to send a special decryptor that will unlock access to data. In addition to this, threat actors also offer to send up to 3 files (less than 5Mb and without valuable information) and get them decrypted for free. Such an offer is presented as a “guarantee” that cybercriminals are capable of decrypting data and can be trusted by victims. In fact, you should be aware that there is also a risk to be scammed eventually. Some ransomware developers fool their victims and do not send any decryption tools after receiving the payment. Despite this, it is unfortunate to say that files are less likely to be decrypted without the participation of cybercriminals. Encryption keys generated by ransomware infections are usually very secure and stored on external servers. This makes decryption very complicated even with the most reputable third-party tools. For now, the best and ultimate way to restore your files for free is via a backup. If you have copies of files stored on external storage (like USB flash drive or cloud), then you can easily copy them back to your system after removing the virus. Below, you will also find some general recommendations about tools that are most often used in decrypting/recovering data, however, we are afraid their capabilities will not be enough at the moment. Note that prior to trying any recovery method, it is crucial to remove the virus from your system. Do so with Chily Ransomware using our article with instrictions down below.
How Chily Ransomware infected your computer
Cybercriminals succeed in spreading their malware campaigns via e-mail spam letters, trojans, deceptive third-party downloads, fake software updates/installers, backdoors, keyloggers, botnets, system exploits, and a number of other distribution vectors as well. Most of these channels employ phishing techniques designed to fool inexperienced users into opening some malicious attachment or link. For instance, ransomware or trojan developers tend to send e-mail letters that impersonate names of legitimate companies/entities (e.g., delivery companies, tax authorities, banks, and so forth). The purpose of such letters is to make users open some phishing link or malicious attachment (.DOCX, .XLSX, .PDF, .EXE, .ZIP, .RAR, or .JS extensions) by claiming it is “important” or “urgent”. Once such attachments are opened according to cybercriminals’ guidelines, the contained infection will be deployed for installation on the targeted system. Do not trust such letters and delete them immediately if it seems suspicious to you. Please note that file formats used in malicious letters have nothing to do with malware on the initial basis. Cybercriminals simply learned how to capitalize on their technical properties in order to inject and install computer/smartphone infections. Some users also receive malicious attachments from random people on social media or friends whose account was hacked and is now being manipulated by cybercriminals to deliver malware. We recommend you read our article below to learn more practical information about how to protect yourself against such threats in the future.

How to protect computer from viruses, like Chily Ransomware , in future
1. Get special anti-ransomware software
Use ZoneAlarm Anti-Ransomware
Famous antivirus brand ZoneAlarm by Check Point released a comprehensive tool, that will help you with active anti-ransomware protection, as an additional shield to your current protection. The tool provides Zero-Day protection against ransomware and allows you to recover files. ZoneAlarm Anti-Ransomware is compatible with all other antiviruses, firewalls, and security software except ZoneAlarm Extreme (already shipped with ZoneAlarm Anti-Ransomware) or Check Point Endpoint products. The killer features of this application are: automatic file recovery, overwrite protection that instantly and automatically recovers any encrypted files, file protection that detects and blocks even unknown encryptors.
2. Back up your files
As an additional way to save your files, we recommend online backup. Local storage, such as hard drives, SSDs, flash drives, or remote network storage can be instantly infected by the virus once plugged in or connected to. Chily Ransomware uses some techniques to exploit this. One of the best services and programs for easy automatic online backup is iDrive. It has the most profitable terms and a simple interface. You can read more about iDrive cloud backup and storage here.
3. Do not open spam e-mails and protect your mailbox
Malicious attachments to spam or phishing e-mails are the most popular method of ransomware distribution. Using spam filters and creating anti-spam rules is good practice. One of the world leaders in anti-spam protection is MailWasher Pro. It works with various desktop applications and provides a very high level of anti-spam protection.
