What is Cry Ransomware
Cry Ransomware is crypto-virus, that infects Windows-based computers and encrypts data of different types. Usually, those are documents, music, photos, e-mails and other files, that can be very important for the user. Ransomware adds .cry extension to affected files and demands $150 ransom for decryption. If ransom is not paid within 100 hours, amount doubles to $300. Among peculiarities, that differentiates Cry virus from other threats of this kind – it creates old_shortcuts on the desktop and moves encrypted files to this folder. This makes it easier to determine, what files were touched by malware, however currently there is no decryptor for .cry files. Virus also creates !Recovery_[random characters].txt and !Recovery_[random characters].html files on the desktop, that contain information about the infection and instructions to pay the ransom. Message pretends to be from Central Security Treatment Organization (Department of pre-trial settlement), which may seem to be governmental organization, but in fact, there is no such organization. Cry Ransomware imputes user guilt of violating cyber laws and payment should be paid to avoid the punishment. Do not fall to empty threats of the hackers and remove Cry ransomware from your computer. We prepared instructions to eliminate the virus and decrypt .cry files.
