What is Kriptor Ransomware
Kriptor is the name of malicious software categorized as ransomware. Its main purpose lies in the encryption of personal files and extraction of money from victims. The virus starts by restricting access to valuable data (photos, videos, documents, databases etc.). It also changes all the affected filenames with the .Kriptor
extension to highlight encryption. For instance, a file previously titled as 1.pdf
will change to 1.pdf.Kriptor
and reset its icon as well. After this part is done, Kriptor creates a text note (read_it.txt) designed to explain decryption instructions. The desktop wallpapers get replaced as well.
Don't worry, you can return all your files!
All your files like documents, photos, databases and other important are encrypted
What guarantees do we give to you?
You can send 3 of your encrypted files and we decrypt it for free.
You must follow these steps To decrypt your files :
1) Write on our e-mail :leljicok@gmail.com ( In case of no answer in 24 hours check your spam folder
or write us to this e-mail: kkizuko@yandex.com)
2) Obtain Bitcoin (You have to pay for decryption in Bitcoins.
After payment we will send you the tool that will decrypt all your files.)
It is said victims have an opportunity to contact cybercriminals using one of the following e-mail addresses – leljicok@gmail.com or kkizuko@yandex.com and pay for decryption in Bitcoins. The exact price remains in secret and is to be revealed upon successful reach-out to swindlers. Ransomware developers also offer to test free decryption prior to paying the decryption fee – users are allowed to send up to 3 encrypted files and get them fully accessible in return. This way, cybercriminals try to create an additional bubble of trust making victims more likely to pay for decryption. Although paying the ransom is not recommended (especially if it is expensive), cybercriminals might be the only figures able to match the right keys for unlocking your data. It is unfortunate, but many ransomware infections use strong algorithms to generate ciphers and store private keys on online servers. The best and most likely way you can recover your data for free is via available backups. You can also try some effective third-party tools in our guide below, however, we are unable to guarantee their success in restoring access to files encrypted by Kriptor. If you want to give it a try, make sure to delete the virus and make a backup of already encrypted data to prevent its possible damage and permanent loss. Use our guide below to explore the options and remove the ransomware virus from your system. Note that virus deletion will not help you restore control over the data, but make sure no malicious activity is present and no longer endangers your PC.
How Kriptor Ransomware infected your computer
It is common to observe the distribution of malware disguised as something legitimate. To illustrate, users may receive e-mail spam messages with requests to open maliciously-modified attachments (.DOCX, .PDF, .EXE, .JS, .RAR, . ZIP, etc.). It may also ensrose a hyperlink or button leading to some malicious download website. As already stated above, such messages are oftentimes sent by ostensibly legitimate sources like DHL, FedEx, DPD, IRS, Banks, and so forth. It is most often inexperienced and inattentive users who become victims of such distribution techniques – they do not think the received messages are suspicious and therefore infect themselves with malware after following what they say. Apart from this, there are other techniques such as spreading malware through fake software updates or installers, trojans, network vulnerabilities, backdoors, keyloggers, and more circulating around the web to infect users. This is why it is important to double-check any information you get and download software only from verified resources. We also advise you to read our tutorial below as there will be some useful information about malware protection you might benefit from.

How to protect computer from viruses, like Kriptor Ransomware , in future
1. Get special anti-ransomware software
Use ZoneAlarm Anti-Ransomware
Famous antivirus brand ZoneAlarm by Check Point released a comprehensive tool, that will help you with active anti-ransomware protection, as an additional shield to your current protection. The tool provides Zero-Day protection against ransomware and allows you to recover files. ZoneAlarm Anti-Ransomware is compatible with all other antiviruses, firewalls, and security software except ZoneAlarm Extreme (already shipped with ZoneAlarm Anti-Ransomware) or Check Point Endpoint products.
