What is MacPerformance
MacPerformance is malicious application for MacOS, that belongs to OSX Pirrit adware family. It controls settings of Safari, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox to create redirects and display ads and pop-ups. It infiltrates Mac computers invisibly or by fraud and starts to generate advertisements, showing phishing pages, encouraging users to download potentially unwanted applications. Sometimes MacPerformance is offered to be installed in a bundle with good applications, and users, confused by the name of the program, think that this is optimization software for MacOS, and allow installation. However, it is much harder to uninstall MacPerformance. It is not a typical application, that can be moved to Trash. Adware takes roots deeply into the system, and in order to remove MacPerformance completely, please, follow our guide below.
How MacPerformance infected your Mac
After infiltrating Mac computer MacPerformance tries to get access to browser settings showing such pop-up:
"MacPerformance" wants access to control "Google Chrome"/"Safari". Allowing control will provide access to documents and data in "Google Chrome"/"Safari", and to perform actions within that app.
It also attempts to take control over System Events settings, showing following message:
"[RANDOM_APP_NAME]" wants access to control "System Events". Allowing to control will provide access to documents and data in "System Events", and to perform actions within that app.
Often users click OK in such windows, without paying attention, thinking it is regular system alert. Malefactors exploit this type of behavior to get access to system or browser settings. Consequences can be much worse, than browser ads and redirects. Use quality anti-malware or antivirus application to protect your Mac from threats like MacPerformance.
