What is My-search.site

My-search.site is one of many browser hijackers that targets Mac systems. After successful penetration, it triggers the change in the search engine by swapping it to https://my-search.site, default tab, and other parts of your browser. Recent investigation suspected and proved the implication of the My-search extension which gets installed without consent. Usually, extensions are not hard to disable or uninstall, however, unwanted add-ons like this can be correlated with actual programs that assign new profiles and values. This way, authentic methods to delete the extension will not work, because it will reinstall itself infinitely until an unwanted program is on your PC. It is also necessary to mention that unwanted programs like browser hijackers can steal your data and share it with cybercriminals. This is why it is highly-important to delete My-search.site from your Mac to secure safer and private browsing.

How My-search.site infected your computer

As known, potentially unwanted programs exploit multiple defects of the Internet. The first and most prevalent is capitalizing on users who download pirated/cracked software. Knowing that tendency, extortionists create custom repacks and fill them up with additional offers. They pack them into “Advanced” or “Custom” sections, propose you to choose “Recommended/Fast” installation instead of “Manual”, and similar options. Some users get puzzled and trust recommended options which unfortunately leads to a sticky infection. Last, but not the least method to infiltrate systems is via malicious ads. Despite the high reputation of the Mac security system, cybercriminals find bugs and other vices to spread malvertising content. In this case, it is worth considering installing additional security tools that will block you from the dark side of the web. All the questions and answers that remain unsolved, can be found below.
