What is NeverSleep

NeverSleep is classified as a potentially unwanted application (PUA) that masquerades as a tool designed to prevent computers from entering sleep mode. However, this application often exhibits harmful behaviors, including data tracking and adware functionalities. Users might find themselves facing intrusive advertisements, rogue redirects, and a noticeable decline in system performance after its installation. Typically, NeverSleep infiltrates systems bundled with other malicious software, such as browser hijackers, further compromising user privacy and computer security. Many users unknowingly install this application through deceptive pop-up ads or by neglecting to read the terms during software installations. While it is presented as a legitimate utility, the risks associated with keeping it on a device far outweigh any purported benefits. Consequently, removing NeverSleep and any associated threats is crucial for maintaining a secure and efficient computing environment.

How NeverSleep infected your computer

NeverSleep typically infects computers through deceptive marketing practices and bundling techniques. Users often encounter the application when downloading free software from untrustworthy sources, where it is packaged alongside legitimate programs. The installation process frequently relies on “Express” or “Recommended” settings, which obscure the presence of additional unwanted applications. Once installed, NeverSleep may exhibit harmful behaviors such as displaying intrusive ads, redirecting browser traffic, and tracking user data for profit. Furthermore, it can install associated malware, such as the NewEngine browser hijacker, compounding the risks to user privacy and system security. Overall, the combination of misleading promotions and bundled installations makes NeverSleep a prevalent threat in the realm of potentially unwanted applications.
