What is SUPERSUSO Ransomware
SUPERSUSO is a ransomware program that uses strong encryption algorithms to cut users from accessing their own data. Such a change is meant to stimulate people into paying the so-called ransom to recover encrypted files. Victims will learn about file encryption by new extensions assigned to them. SUPERSUSO developers use the .ICQ_SUPERSUSO extension to rename all the blocked data. For instance, a file like 1.pdf
will change to 1.pdf.ICQ_SUPERSUSO
and reset its original icon. The same will be applied to all data blocked across your system. After this, SUPERSUSO issues a text file named #Decrypt#.txt to explain recovery instructions.

tell your unique ID
At first, victims are instructed to install ICQ software for PC, Android, or IOS and write to cybercriminals’ recipient address, which is mentioned in the note. ICQ is a reliable and legitimate messenger used by cybercriminals to establish anonymous communication with their victims. Should victims fail to contact developers within 72 hours, the compromised information will be gathered and leaked to darknet markets. It is also advised against editing files or using third-party software as it is likely to cause permanent damage. The price for decryption of files remains unknown until you contact cyber criminals. Creators of SUPERSUSO Ransomware say they are open to negotiations in order to find the best solution that suits you. Unfortunately, trusting cyber criminals in terms of decryption is always a risk. Despite they are the only figures able to decrypt your data, many ransomware developers fool their victims and do not send any decryption tools even after paying the ransom. Considering there are no third-party tools that could guarantee safe and 100% decryption of SUPERSUSO files for free, the best and most reliable way to recover your data is via backup copies. In all other cases, recovering data is less likely to reach any anticipated success. You can give it a try with third-party tools only in case no other options are left. Keep in mind that restoring your data is only half of the battle because there is a risk of having your files published. You can reach out to cybercriminals and learn how much the decryption costs. After this, you will be able to evaluate your options and choose the one that fits you the most. Unless you are going to collaborate with extortionists, it is important to delete SUPERSUSO Ransomware from your PC to prevent further risks of encryption. Our guide below will show you all the ‘hows’ to do this.
How SUPERSUSO Ransomware infected your computer
Here is the list of most common distribution methods used by malware developers:
E-mail spam messages, trojans, fake updates, infected pirated or cracked software, backdoors, keyloggers, botnets, web injects, hacked RDP configuration, and many more to extend this list.
Users should beware of all these channels as they can be stumbled by each person surfing the web. As a rule, most users are prone to get infected via malicious spam messages sent through e-mail. Such e-mail letters are bundled with malvertising attachments designed to initiate the installation of malware, once they are opened. Files with .docx, .pdf, .rar, .zip, .exe, or .js extensions can be altered by virus developers to store a number of different infections. Sometimes immediate infections can be averted if the downloaded files have “Protect View” mode. You may see it in MS Office documents that say accessing “Edit mode” can be dangerous unless you are sure the file is safe. Once you cross this protection layer, the virus will be free to install on your system. It is also common to see links instead of file attachments in spam messages. Such links usually lead to download pages asking to install some piece of ostensibly legitimate software. This will download some .exe file meant to spread hidden infections as well. Note that cyber criminals try to make their messages less suspicious by disguising them as legitimate companies that most people can know (e.g. DHL, DPD, FedEx, etc.). Do not trust messages asking to open some files or links, especially if you received them all of a sudden. The same applies to all content you see around the web. If you visit pirated resources quite often, be careful whilst clicking on various buttons or ads. They can redirect you to intermediate pages that impose a chain of suspicious actions. How to protect computer from viruses, like SUPERSUSO Ransomware, in future
1. Get special anti-ransomware software
Use ZoneAlarm Anti-Ransomware
Famous antivirus brand ZoneAlarm by Check Point released a comprehensive tool, that will help you with active anti-ransomware protection, as an additional shield to your current protection. The tool provides Zero-Day protection against ransomware and allows you to recover files. ZoneAlarm Anti-Ransomware is compatible with all other antiviruses, firewalls, and security software except ZoneAlarm Extreme (already shipped with ZoneAlarm Anti-Ransomware) or Check Point Endpoint products. The killer features of this application are: automatic file recovery, overwrite protection that instantly and automatically recovers any encrypted files, file protection that detects and blocks even unknown encryptors.
2. Back up your files
As an additional way to save your files, we recommend online backup. Local storage, such as hard drives, SSDs, flash drives, or remote network storage can be instantly infected by the virus once plugged in or connected to. SUPERSUSO Ransomware uses some techniques to exploit this. One of the best services and programs for easy automatic online backup is iDrive. It has the most profitable terms and a simple interface. You can read more about iDrive cloud backup and storage here.
3. Do not open spam e-mails and protect your mailbox
Malicious attachments to spam or phishing e-mails are the most popular method of ransomware distribution. Using spam filters and creating anti-spam rules is good practice. One of the world leaders in anti-spam protection is MailWasher Pro. It works with various desktop applications and provides a very high level of anti-spam protection.
