What is Web Zoom
Web Zoom is a potentially unwanted program categorized as adware. Such programs cause absolute clutter around your browser by displaying various types of advertisements. Whilst the initial purpose is to improve browsing by generating ostensibly useful content based on user’s habits, the reality looks totally different. Banners and coupons promoted by Web Zoom may contain hidden links that, once clicked, redirect users to malicious websites that run executable scripts or force you to do something. Advertisements shown by Web Zoom can be called: “Ads by Web Zoom”, “Powered by Web Zoom”, “Brought to you by Web Zoom”. Besides that, adware programs alter browser settings which means that cybercriminals are allowed to spy on your activity and selling the recorded data (e.g. passwords, IP-addresses, geolocations, etc.) on criminalistic platforms. Luckily, Web Zoom is a low-level threat and can be easily removed from your computer.
How Web Zoom infected your computer
The most notable method of distributing adware is bundling. Bundling is a type of marketing tool designed to promote third-parties software alongside repacks. Sometimes, the bundled software may be legitimate and useful, however, not in our case. During the installation, users tend to misuse skipping additional sections like “Advanced/Custom” in order to finish the setup quicker. As a result, people get inadvertently hooked on the gross tricks prepared by swindlers. Another popular approach used by extortionists is via fake software updaters. These can be seen on suspicious websites that claim your software to be outdated. Therefore, gullible users download these clients and get infected by adware instead of promised updates. Be careful when surfing the web, try to avoid visiting untrustworthy resources that are filled with lots of ads hovering over the pages. To get rid of Web Zoom once and for all, follow the steps listed below.
