What is Your Search Bar
Your Search Bar is a rogue browser extension that functions as browser-hijacking software. It alters browser settings to promote the yoursearchbar.me fake search engine through redirects. This software typically modifies browsers by assigning endorsed website addresses as the default search engines, homepages, and new tab/window URLs. As a result, web searches performed via the URL bar and new browser tabs/windows opened result in redirects to the yoursearchbar.me webpage. The browsers affected by Your Search Bar include Google Chrome and Firefox, among others. The extension modifies the settings of these browsers, changing the default search engine, homepage, and new tab/window URLs. To remove Your Search Bar, you need to uninstall the unwanted applications using the Control Panel. In Google Chrome, you can disable “Your Search Bar” in the “On startup” section of the settings. If the browser hijacker URL (hxxp://www.yoursearchbar.me) is present, you can remove it by clicking on the three vertical dots icon and selecting “Remove”. To change your default search engine in Google Chrome, you can go to “Settings”, then the “Search engine” section, click “Manage search engines…”, look for “yoursearchbar.me”, and when located, click the three vertical dots near this URL and select “Delete” In Firefox, to reset your homepage, click the Firefox menu, then select “Settings”, in the opened window disable “Your Search Bar”. If you continue to have problems with browser redirects and unwanted advertisements, you may need to reset your browser settings or use specialized software to remove the browser hijacker.
How Your Search Bar infects computers
Your Search Bar can infect computers through various methods. Often, it is bundled with other software, and users inadvertently install it without realizing it. It can also be distributed through deceptive advertisements. Once installed, it modifies the browser settings, changing the default search engine, homepage, and new tab/window URLs to yoursearchbar.me. The primary symptom of a Your Search Bar infection is the redirection of web searches to the yoursearchbar.me webpage. This fake search engine cannot generate search results on its own and redirects to a legitimate Internet search site. At the time of research, this page landed on Bing.
